American Life Network

Posted by jeff on 31st August 2009 in Uncategorized

I am obsessed with the American Life Network. And not just because it’s owned by the Moonies. It’s actually the closest thing to the WFLD TV channel I recall as a kid, before we had cable and there were only five or six choices of what to watch. I mean it’s got the color episodes of The Honeymooners for crying out loud!

The movie Up is fantastic

Posted by jeff on 30th May 2009 in Uncategorized

I don’t know how Pixar does it, but they now are 10 for 10 in movies that are critical and commercial hits (assuming Up get a big audience this weekend). It’s a don’t miss for sure.

How is a person supposed to stay on a reasonable diet now that King’s Hawaiian Sweet Bread comes sliced?

Packaging for over the counter medicine sucks!

Posted by jeff on 21st May 2009 in Uncategorized

There’s a new thing going on with medicine that makes no sense. Pick up a bottle of anything at the drugstore and see what I mean. Look for the directions. You can’t see them. Why? They are under a flap of other, less-important info. To read the directions you must peel off a layer of crap. Can anyone explain this? It makes no sense. always_read_me_first

Putting the sugar back in Pepsi

Posted by jeff on 9th May 2009 in Uncategorized

In L.A. it’s easy to get Mexi-Coke, which is the Mexican produced Coca-Cola. But Mexi-Pepsi is harder get … because Mexicans only drink Coke, orange soda and Sidral. But for eight weeks Pepsi is selling in America “Pepsi Throwback,” which is a terrible name because it sounds like Pepsi Throw-up. But it’s Pepsi with real sugar. Maybe it will catch on and corn syrup in soda will be history. If not, then time to stock up.ipepsi

What makes me me feel old?

That none of my college students remember the O.J Simpson car chase … because they were four years old.

Finally, someone wrote about my favorite sitcom device

Posted by jeff on 12th March 2009 in Uncategorized

Yahoo! sometimes puts up stories that make me think they have a brain, and they were the first I know of to finally mention my favorite TV device. “How I Met Your Mother,” more than any sitcom, mentions websites as punch lines. And when they do it, I run to the computer and hit that URL. I do it with all shows, but with “How I Met Your Mother,” they ALWAYS put up an actual site. Ted Mosby is a jerk is my favorite. But they also made this one for the fake pop career of Robin. This is the best one for its sheer insane URL. And for comedy, check out this one.howimetyourmother

Stop with the Octomom crap!

Posted by jeff on 10th March 2009 in Uncategorized

Holy smokes will people let this lady with the 14 kids go? Yes, it’s odd. Yes, she’s probably mentally ill. But who is more sick? I was forced, by way of doing laundry, in front of my least favorite show ever – Good Day L.A. – and they spoke for nearly an hour about this lady and her kids moving to a new house. The people on that block, it’s a dead-end street, must be freaking out. For years to come people are going to drive down that street to hope to see her and the 14 kids. Has it really come to this? Please, this isn’t interesting any more, and all the attention is going to make it worse for these kids. Let’s just all agree to turn our backs and walk away from this mess.

Tea Lattes … it’s tea and milk … for $5

Posted by jeff on 7th March 2009 in Uncategorized

Starbucks, in an effort to make sure it’s competing on all levels with the few other coffee chains, mainly Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, has started offering tea lattes. One is made with rooibos, which I am betting doesn’t sell well, despite being a great tea, because people don’t know how to pronounce it. Smart locales call it “red tea.” I have enjoyed the London Fog Tea latte, which is tea, milk and vanilla syrup. I don’t get the syrup and instead use some yellow packet-y stuff. But I have frowned at myself each time because the thing is $5. It’s tea and milk. How in hell is Starbucks losing money these days? latte
